Central London coverage

Where we can help

Tell us where the property is and what has prompted the requirement. Central London buildings can be complicated, so an existing report, quotation, drawing or set of photographs can be particularly useful.

Westminster

Westminster, Victoria, Pimlico, Whitehall, St James’s, Marylebone, Paddington, Bayswater and surrounding areas.

For hotels, restaurants, private clubs, theatres, government and public-sector buildings, healthcare, education and workplace catering.

Kitchen extract cleaning in Westminster →

Soho

Restaurants, bars, hotels, clubs, theatres and late-trading hospitality in one of London’s densest commercial kitchen areas.

Access can be affected by basement kitchens, neighbouring occupiers, restricted loading arrangements and long duct routes to roof level.

Mayfair & St James’s

Hotels, restaurants, private clubs, galleries, luxury retail and corporate hospitality across Mayfair and St James’s.

Properties may require carefully managed access, discreet working arrangements and close coordination with building or estate management.

Covent Garden & the West End

Restaurants, theatres, hotels, pubs, entertainment venues and mixed-use properties across Covent Garden and the surrounding West End.

Older buildings and dense neighbouring occupancies can make the route from kitchen to fan considerably more complicated than it first appears.

Fitzrovia & Marylebone

Restaurants, hotels, healthcare, offices, education and mixed-use commercial buildings across Fitzrovia, Marylebone and neighbouring areas.

Holborn & Bloomsbury

Hotels, restaurants, universities, healthcare, offices, cultural institutions and other commercial kitchens across Holborn and Bloomsbury.

City of London

Corporate dining, hotels, restaurants, private venues, hospitality and workplace kitchens across the Square Mile.

High-rise properties, managed plant areas and security-controlled buildings can make access arrangements as important as the cleaning requirement itself.

Clerkenwell & Farringdon

Restaurants, pubs, offices, hotels and mixed-use property across Clerkenwell, Farringdon and adjoining Central London areas.

Not sure which Central London area applies?
Send the property address or postcode and tell us what has prompted the enquiry. You do not need to identify the correct local page first.

Central London kitchens operate in very different buildings

Hotels

Multiple kitchens, occupied guest areas, room-service operations, restaurants, banqueting and restricted engineering windows can all affect when and how work takes place.

Restaurants, pubs & private clubs

Basement kitchens, high cooking volumes, long trading hours and shared buildings can all make extraction work more involved than a routine canopy clean.

Corporate & workplace catering

Office towers and managed estates may introduce security, permits, plant-room access, landlord approvals and tightly controlled working hours.

Theatres, galleries & event venues

Public opening hours, performances, events and front-of-house operations can make access planning particularly important.

When you need help with a commercial kitchen extract system

Sometimes the requirement is straightforward: the extraction system is due for cleaning and you need an appropriate specialist contractor.

Other enquiries begin with an existing issue. You may have a TR19® report showing inaccessible ductwork, a fire-risk recommendation, an insurer or landlord asking for evidence, quotations that appear to include different amounts of work, or uncertainty about what a previous attendance actually covered.

EC Cleaners Network helps organise the information you already have so the requirement is clearer before an independent specialist contractor is appointed.

You can send an existing report, certificate, photographs, drawings or contractor quotations. You do not need to prepare a new technical specification before contacting us.

The difficult part is often everything you cannot see from the kitchen

Central London commercial kitchens frequently sit within older, converted, high-rise or mixed-use buildings.

The canopy may be directly above the cooking line, but the extraction route can continue through several floors, risers, roof spaces or adjoining areas before reaching the fan and discharge.

Basement kitchens

The cooking area may sit below street level while the extraction system travels through several storeys before reaching roof level.

Shared buildings

Ductwork may pass through landlord-controlled areas or close to hotel bedrooms, offices, residential accommodation or other commercial occupiers.

Restricted access

Loading restrictions, security, permits, roof access and building-management procedures can all affect the practical contractor scope.

Why organisations contact us

The system is due for cleaning

You need to arrange the next attendance and want the intended parts of the extraction system to be clear before contractors assess and price the work.

A report has raised an issue

Previous documentation identifies grease build-up, inaccessible ductwork, missing access or another action that still needs resolving.

Someone has asked for evidence

An insurer, landlord, fire-risk adviser, facilities team or other professional has requested action or supporting documentation.

A kitchen extract system is more than the canopy

The visible hood and filters are only the beginning of many commercial extraction systems.

Grease-laden air may travel through horizontal ductwork, vertical risers and concealed sections before reaching the extract fan and final discharge.

The contractor proposal should make it clear which parts of that route are actually included.

Canopy & plenum

The kitchen-facing section where grease-laden air is collected before entering the duct route.

Ductwork & risers

Horizontal, concealed and vertical sections carrying extracted air through the building.

Fan & discharge

The downstream fan and final discharge should not be assumed to be included unless the contractor’s scope says so.

What Is Included in a Commercial Kitchen Extract System? →

What if part of the ductwork cannot be reached?

This is particularly important in Central London, where extraction routes may pass through several floors, risers, roof plant or parts of a property controlled by the landlord or building manager.

If an existing report says that a section was inaccessible, tell the next contractor before the visit.

Otherwise the same section may simply be excluded again.

Already have a report showing inaccessible ductwork?
Send it with the enquiry. It may help identify whether additional access provision, enabling work or further specialist assessment is needed.

What To Do About Inaccessible Kitchen Extract Ductwork →

Kitchen extraction and general ventilation are not the same thing

Hotels, offices, healthcare premises and other large Central London buildings may contain several different ventilation systems.

TR19® Grease relates specifically to grease-contaminated commercial kitchen extraction and management of the associated grease-related fire risk.

TR19® Air is a separate BESA specification dealing with cleanliness and hygiene within general ventilation systems.

If a property has both, they should be identified separately rather than bundled together as one vague “duct cleaning” job.

Make sure you are comparing the same job

A lower quotation does not necessarily mean the same work is being offered for less.

One contractor may have allowed for the canopy and easily accessible ductwork. Another may have included a long riser, roof fan, access equipment, permits, restricted working hours or more detailed reporting.

What is included?

Canopy, plenum, ductwork, risers, fan and discharge should be identified where relevant.

What access is assumed?

Check roof access, access panels, plant rooms, high-level equipment, permits and building-management requirements.

What comes back afterwards?

Understand what photographs, reporting, measurements, exclusions and outstanding actions will be recorded.

If the request came from fire safety, insurance or the landlord

Keep the original recommendation or written request and send it with the contractor enquiry.

A detailed instruction should not be reduced to simply “get a TR19 certificate”. The contractor needs to understand which system has been identified, what action has been raised and what evidence is expected when the work is complete.

TR19® Grease is a BESA industry specification rather than legislation in itself. Separate statutory fire-safety responsibilities apply to commercial premises.

Insurance and landlord requirements also vary between properties, leases and policies, so the relevant written requirement should be checked rather than assumed.

Who we can help

Hospitality

Restaurants, hotels, pubs, private clubs, bars, theatres, event venues and other commercial kitchens.

Healthcare, education & public estates

Hospitals, clinics, universities, colleges, public buildings and other institutional catering environments.

Corporate & managed property

Workplace catering, facilities managers, landlords, property managers and organisations managing several Central London sites.

After the work, you should be able to understand what actually happened

A useful completion record should identify the relevant kitchen and extraction system, explain what the contractor says was completed and make any exclusions or outstanding issues clear.

The correct system

Make sure the evidence relates to the right property, kitchen and extraction route.

The work completed

Reporting and photographs should make the contractor’s completed physical scope understandable.

Anything still unresolved

Inaccessible or incomplete areas should remain visible rather than disappearing once the attendance has finished.

What Post-Clean Evidence Should You Receive? →

Managing several Central London properties?

Hotel groups, restaurant operators, corporate estates, healthcare organisations, property companies and facilities-management providers may need to coordinate several sites at once.

You can submit several properties together while keeping the differences between them visible.

Keep each property clear

The site, kitchen, extraction system, contractor and evidence should remain separately identifiable.

Record building differences

Risers, roof access, operating hours, security requirements and landlord arrangements can differ considerably from site to site.

Keep outstanding work visible

Missing evidence, inaccessible sections and further actions should not become lost inside a wider maintenance programme.

Our role

EC Cleaners Network helps organisations move from a requirement, report or unresolved issue towards a clearer contractor brief and useful evidence afterwards.

We can organise customer-supplied information, help clarify the commercial requirement, highlight obvious differences between quotations and support introductions to potentially appropriate independent specialists.

We do not inspect or clean the extraction system ourselves and we do not decide whether a system is technically compliant.

The appointed specialist remains responsible for the technical work.
That includes assessment, quotation, safe working, access method, physical delivery, measurements, reporting, certification and professional conclusions within its appointed scope.

Central London kitchen extract cleaning: common questions

Which Central London areas can I submit a requirement from?

Requirements can be submitted from across Central London, including Westminster, Soho, Mayfair, St James’s, Covent Garden, Fitzrovia, Marylebone, Holborn, Bloomsbury, Victoria, Pimlico, Clerkenwell, Farringdon and the City of London.

Can I send an existing TR19 report?

Yes. Existing reports, photographs, certificates and quotations can provide useful information about what was previously completed, what could not be reached and what may still require attention.

Does kitchen extract cleaning include the fan and ductwork?

It can, depending on the system and the contractor’s agreed scope. The quotation should clearly identify which sections of the extraction route are included, excluded or inaccessible.

What if the kitchen is in a basement?

The extraction route may continue through several floors before reaching the fan or discharge. The contractor needs to understand the full route and any access restrictions rather than assessing only the visible kitchen equipment.

What if some ductwork is inaccessible?

The limitation should remain visible. Additional access provision, enabling work or further specialist assessment may be needed before that section can be addressed.

Is kitchen extract cleaning the same as general ventilation cleaning?

No. Commercial kitchen grease extraction and general building ventilation are different systems. TR19® Grease relates to commercial kitchen extraction, while TR19® Air concerns cleanliness and hygiene within general ventilation systems.

Is TR19® Grease a legal requirement?

TR19® Grease is a BESA industry specification rather than legislation in itself. Separate statutory fire-safety responsibilities apply to non-domestic premises.

How much does commercial kitchen extract cleaning cost in Central London?

Independent contractor pricing depends on the extraction system, duct configuration, grease loading, fan location, building access, permits, working hours and the evidence required. EC Cleaners Network does not set contractor prices.

Can I submit several Central London properties together?

Yes. Multi-site requirements can be submitted together while keeping each property’s extraction system, access arrangements, contractor scope and completion evidence separately identifiable.

Does EC Cleaners Network carry out the cleaning?

No. EC Cleaners Network is operated by Search and Submit Ltd. Independent appointed contractors remain responsible for technical assessment, safe working, physical delivery, reporting and certification within their appointed scope.
